Born on June 15, 1958, in Essan, Gbako Local Government Area, Niger State, Peter N. Jiya has dedicated his life to legal practice, governance, and legislative affairs.

Peter Ndalikali Jiya is a distinguished Nigerian politician, lawyer, and public servant with a career spanning over four decades. Born on June 15, 1958, in Essan, Gbako Local Government Area, Niger State, he has dedicated his life to legal practice, governance, and legislative affairs.

Senator Jiya’s political journey began in 1999 when he was elected as a Member of the House of Representatives, representing his constituency until 2007. During this period, he was actively involved in various legislative committees, including Banking & Currency, Justice, and Capital Market Institutions. He also served as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Banking & Currency and later chaired the Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee.

Beyond legislative work, he was appointed as Special Adviser on Border Communities to the Niger State Governor (2007–2011) and later served as Permanent Member I, Universal Basic Education, Niger State (2011–2015).

Returning to politics, he was elected as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023, where he currently serves. In the Senate, he holds key positions as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committees on Aviation and Capital Markets.

As a seasoned legal practitioner and public servant, he is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), International Bar Association (IBA) and Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).

With a strong background in law, finance and governance, Senator Peter Ndalikali Jiya remains a dedicated advocate for legislative reforms, economic development and the rule of law in Nigeria.
